“We just wanted to tell you how wonderful tonight was for both of us. We have known for so long now that L is so happy at school and feels so loved and nurtured each day, but tonight was just a solid confirmation for us once again. Hearing about what goes on in the classroom all day and getting a small taste for his daily routine was so reaffirming for us. Seeing the transference from what he learns all day to what he says and does at home is amazing!”
The Toddler Program is for children from 18 to 24 months. It takes place Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:00 – 12:00. Parents remain in the classroom with their children for the first few days and then follow a gradual transition schedule to slowly increase the amount of time their children spend in school without them. The teachers specialize in the developmental needs of children this age and offer an experience that is nurturing and stimulating as they guide children to build the skills they need to move into a more formal preschool setting.
The Nursery 2’s Program is for children who will be two years old before December 31st. It takes place Monday to Friday from 9:00 – 12:00 with the option to sign up for the whole week or for two or three days (Tuesday/Thursday or Monday/Wednesday/Friday). There is an option to stay for lunch from 12:00 – 1:00. The teachers in this class are experts in creating the most positive introduction to preschool for the children during this foundational year. Much emphasis is placed on creating a warm and comfortable environment in the classroom while concentrating on building independence and confidence, developing social competence, learning to follow rules and routines, and fostering key skills in each developmental area.
The Nursery 3’s Program is for children who will be three years old before December 31st. It takes place Monday to Friday from 9:00 – 12:00 with the option to stay for lunch hour from 12:00 – 1:00 and an enrichment hour from 1:00 – 2:00. The emphasis at this age is to maintain a love of learning and preserve the natural curiosity about the world that children possess, while also beginning the introduction to more formal academic activities. Children will become familiar with basic concepts in math and language arts as they prepare for the more structured year in Pre-K. This is also a year of much social growth and development so importance is placed on guiding children in their interactions with others as they learn to express themselves more clearly and also take the perspective of another.
The Pre-K Program is for children who will be four years old before December 31st and who will be starting a Kindergarten program the following year. It takes place Monday to Friday from 9:00 – 1:00 with the option to stay for an enrichment hour from 1:00 – 2:00. There is a strong focus on academic readiness for kindergarten with specific goals in each subject area (math, language arts, science, music, the arts, etc.). Developing the learning dispositions and attitudes that make children successful in the classroom is also a big priority (such as confidence in oneself as a learner, the ability to persevere despite frustration, being flexible, etc.). Equally emphasized, the social skills curriculum prepares children to navigate social situations effectively and develop the skills that will allow them to be responsible, thoughtful, and caring members of their future classrooms.
