Welcome

"Thank you for all your love and support. I’m so glad my daughter is at Chabad. This is no other place on earth as caring and loving because of amazing people like you."

Welcome to Chabad Preschool.  I encourage you to review this website so you can begin to see what a truly special place our preschool is. Chabad Preschool has served the Greenwich Jewish community for almost 20 years. We pride ourselves on the Torah proverb: Educate a child according to “his” way and he will never go astray. Over the last 20 years, we have tailored our curriculum to each child’s learning style. Children learn in many different ways: some tactile, some auditory, and some visual. At Chabad Preschool, we believe each child holds a special gift. Our teachers value, nurture and enhance those gifts.

We hope to make you feel a part of our “family”, as Chabad Preschool is a place where parents and indeed, the entire family play an integral part in the education process.

I encourage you to call with questions, speak to other families already enrolled in our program and schedule a tour so you can see first-hand what a special gem our school is.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Best wishes,

Maryashie Deren

Jill Sherman

Jill earned her MA in ABA from Columbia University.Over the last 17 years I have worked with children with special needs and their families in several different capacities. Following my time at the University of Michigan, I moved to Tahoe, California where I worked with the adaptive ski school, special education classrooms, and outdoor education programs. While in California I began working as a behavioral therapist and I knew immediately that I had found my career. I moved back to the East Coast to pursue a masters degree in Applied Behavior Analysis and involve myself in the community. I spent two years in an Early Intervention center where I provided 1:1 therapy to meet listener, speaker, social, and behavioral needs. I currently design and implement individual and group academic programs and behavioral interventions, consult to schools, and provide parent training and support. I treat every client as an individual and enjoy meeting their specific needs with compassion, focus, and professionalism. I provide targeted skill building for all children to help them be as successful as possible in school. This may include improving problem solving skills and perspective taking. This is incredibly important for our preschoolers as it sets the tone for their academic career. The more successful kids are in school, the more they’ll love being there.

Joanne is an excellent communicator and feels that collaboration with parents and teachers are essential and their involvement optimizes their child’s success. Joanne’s style as an OT is to provide a fun welcoming environment that a child looks forward to coming. Her philosophy is to keep a child engaged that they may not even realize what skills they are learning.
